Blue’ is my final body of work for my B A (HONS) TEXTILE ART & ARTEFACT in National College of Art and Design. Making and mending are in my DNA. This piece explores my farming and fishing ancestry by examining belief systems. Outlines of crumbling abbey windows tower over stone walls. Blue silk cables, reflect ecclesiastical pageantry ascending from fishing nets. Everything hangs from the knitted yoke, representing repetitive labour and burden, imitating life. Blue is created with up-cycled fabrics, damaged silk, old jeans, hospital gowns and used cloths
